Yes, you do speak ITALIAN !

Reading newspapers you will often come across Italian words. A few from music:
maestro - master
virtuoso - expert
piano - quiet (short for piano forte musical instrument with a loud-soft pedal)
forte - loud

You will probably recognise
bambino (baby)

When you are in an Italian restaurant you will probably recognise many Italian words on the menu.

caffee - coffee / coffee bar
espresso
latte - milk
pizza - pizza - mixed

mama - mother
mia - my
villa - house
ciao - goodbye

You can brush up on your Italian in Italy, Sardinia, Italian restaurants in London, England. Italian is also used in opera which you can hear in opera houses in many European countries. Or buy italian language discs, and opera discs, or see Italian films in movie theatres, on videos and on YouTube.
I picked up a copy of The MAG which has Italian and English on the front cover and inside.

From the front cover I picked up the words
un uomo - a man
capello bianco - white hair
lungo - long
identita - identity

Inside I read:
cucina tradizionale - traditional cuisine
con creativita - with a creative
moderne - modern
ingredienti - ingredients
al ristorante - the restaurant
qualita - quality
materie - materials
eccellenza - excellence
Nord - north
Sud - south
vacanza - holiday (like the French vacances)

If you want to help your children learn, you can buy packs of 50 flashcards. I saw these Italian flashcards costing £5.99 in my London post office.

For adults, a good start would be the set of two discs by Berlitz from the earworms system.
200 starter words and phrases.
