French words of the day: plateau

ensemble - people or things gathered together, such as a musical ensemble in a duo or quartet

panache - aplomb and flair, style and confidence, flamboyance

plateau - flat surface, flat field, for example, 'better to pitch your tent on a plateau than on a slope'. Metaphorical point where nothing happens, no advance, for example, 'our business had reached a plateau'.

Protegée -protected pupil or underling, opposite of a mentor
