Fun with French words of the day

au pair - French girl in England to learn English and get bed and board in exchange for a number of hours set by the agency - au pair originally at or in a pair on an exchange system
banquet - big meal of several courses grandly served
béchamel - white sauce - one of the five French sauces
cabaret - show of mixed turns
coquette - flirt
croquette - short sausage shape, often potato or cheese and deep fried,
chaise longue - long low chair
clientele - clients of class
en route - on the way, the road or planned direction of travel
gare du Nord - station of the North
insouciance - uncaring, nonchalance
Lyonnaise - from Lyon
mayonnaise - mixture of egg yolk and olive oil
vignette - portrait and silhouette
silhouette - An outline side view of face or black body, such as a human or free or building or scene contrast against a white background / sky with no detail, just black on white, such as a black circle or filled in black ball.
