Welsh words memory aids

I wrote on a Duolingo forum that I wanted translations for some words and got the following translations which I am putting in alphabetical order in both directions from English to Welsh and Welsh to English.

Welsh - English

afon (river) 

allanfa - (exit) 

Ble mae'r . . .  ffôn (Where is the  . . . phone) 

brechdan (sandwich)

bwyd (food) 

bws (bus) 

Faint ydy'r . . . . . tocyn (How much is the . . . . . ticket) 

gwesty (hotel) 

paned o goffi (cup of coffee) 

tacsi (taxi) 

trên (train)

tŷ bach - (toilet) 

tŷ bwyta (restaurant)

English - Welsh

Bus - b w s (spaces inserted to evade automatic spell checker converting the Welsh word back into English)

cup of coffee - paned   o   g o f f i   (spell checker wanted to insert goofy - I suppose I could use that as a memory aid - a goofy g o f f i  cup of coffee

exit - allanfa

food - bwyd

hotel - gwesty

How much is the . . .  ticket? - Faint ydy'r . . . tocyn ?

restaurant  - tŷ bwyta 

river - a f o n  (Watch out - spell checker turns this into anon)

sandwich - brechdan

taxi - tacsi

toilet - tŷ bach 

train - trên 

Where is the - phone? - Ble mae'r -  ffôn?

If you can only remember words which are almost the same, here they are

Memory Aids

The river Avon (Stratford on Avon) if Shakespeare had been on the river Avon he would have been in Wales on the Afon. Just look at a map of Wales issued in Wales and see the word Afon and think river Avon.

Take a taxi (t a c s i) or a bus (b w s ) or train  (t r ê n) to the river Avon (which in Welsh is a f o n).
