American - British English - German

cell phone - mobile phone / mobile - Handy

German - English

Sein - his (memory aid si and is - SeIn - hIS)
Berg - mountain (think of the round mountain top)
Burg - burg castle (think of U shaped like two towers)

Zahlen - number (imagine the z turned sideways to form an N. You could go even further with a visual memory aid: Z is a turned n, the a written carelessly looks like a U, the h is stretched up for form h, back down again to form m, or the h and l are squared together to form b, the final e is the same in both words, the r and n are similar in appearance, er and en - Zahlen=number number = Zahlen)
To remember a word
read it and say it three times in both directions:

Zahlen=number
Zahlen=number
Zahlen=number

number is Zahlen
number is Zahlen
number is Zahlen

Zahlen is Number

What is number in German? Zahlen.
What does Zahlen mean? Number.
