Romania Snippets - Cheap Flight, French Fun and 1000 rooms

Best Price Flights To Romania?
Three Romanian friends from a gym told me:
You can fly to Romania from the UK and elsewhere on Ryanair or Wizzair but you pay extra for checked in suitcases and specific area seats. One friend says she flies Ryanair Irish because it's cheaper. On both airlines you have to buy food such as sandwiches and coffee.

The other friend goes on Wizzair which is Hungarian? She flies three times a year and gets a cumulative frequent flier discount. So although the price may be higher, she can choose more times and days and use her discount.

French Language and Influence in Romania
What do you say when somebody meets you at the airport or you check into a hotel? You could start with learning Romanian on Duolingo. Once there, if you forget, never mind. French language is learned at school in Romania along with English and everybody will understand bye for goodbye and merci for thank you.

How do you remember the name of your friend or the taxi driver or receptionist? First names for men and women will sound familiar. Most are saints' names such as Maria and John which sound like English or Spanish or Italian. The major religion is Eastern Orthodox. One local sounding name for men is Basil which in Romanian starts with a v like Vasili.

The Best of Bucharest
Bucharest used to be called the Paris of the East. Another French feature apart from language is the French area of Bucharest with a reproduction of
1 The Arc de Triomphe (Arch of Triumph).
2 A major landmark is the Parliament building, the biggest in Europe, over 1000 rooms. It is the second biggest in the world after the American Pentagon.

Best Excursion From Romania
1 Castles. Dracula's Castle and others.
2 Painted Monasteries.
3 Drive from Bucharest to C l u j via
4 S i b i u which sounds like Silvia or wood. It is in Transylvania. The mayor whose parents are German and still live in Germany was able to convince the EU (European Union) to give money to develop and modernise the city of S i b i u. So now it has good infrastructure and transport. Sibiu was made the European City of Culture in 2007 so locals say it is a must see city.
