Bulgaria and Celebrating Cyrillic Writing

Romania

Problem
I have never been to Bulgaria nor Romania. How to I remember which is which? What are the countries' main features?

Answers
Bulgaria - cyrillic writing (like Russian) introduced by St Cyril. His day is celebrated May 24, today!

(Incidentally, Wikipedia handily reminded me the difference between birthday and birthdate. The birthday is the day of the month and the month, which recur every day. The birthdate is the date of birth which inlaces the year, and occurs once in your lifetime. Just to make that clear. The day you are born is your birthdate, which includes the whole date, the year as well. For the rest of your life you have annual birthdays, celebrating the day of the month when you are born.)

If you learned Russian at school, or on your own later, you are lucky. That knowledge will also help you to read signs in Bulgaria, which, according to Wikipedia, are written in Bulgarian in Cyrillic writing.

If you are more at ease with an alphabet which looks like English, apart from a few accents, you will find it easier to learn Romanian.
