Where Can You find Rugby Museums In England, New Zealand In Future?

Problem
What do you do when you have a Rugby Museum collection and no home for it?

Answer
Send it on tour until you have funds and a venue for a new Museum. When the Rugby League Heritage Centre closed in 2013, their contents were sent off on Rugby League Heritage on tour.

To sum it up, there are three Rugby museums now, and one forthcoming. They are:

World Rugby Museum
Twickenham

Rugby Museum
Named after the founder and in the home of Rugby, England.

New Zealand

Forthcoming Rugby Museum
Bradford City Hall, Bradford. Opening in 2020 August.  That will be in time to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the game.

The story goes that the game of Rugby started at Rugby school. After playing football, one of the players picked up the ball and ran with it. What's the official story? Go to one of the museums and find out.

My favourite item is the Christmas card showing Santa flying though the air, arms outstretched with a wrapped present - you can tell from the shape it is a rugby ball!

The New Zealand team is the All Blacks. For information on the New Zealand flag and Maori language see my other posts.
