Learn a Few Words of Portuguese

Problem
I am too tired to study, but the reminder from Duolingo is in my email.

Answer
Last thing at night, when it's too late to do anything else. I can learn a few words of another language, preferably a country where I am likely to go on holiday. Portuguese.

This is the basics from the start of the Duolingo course. You get the words for man and woman, boy and girl, eat and drink, I and you, bread and milk.

I like to write the words down alphabetically, from each of the languages.

English - Portuguese
the boy - o menino
the man - o homem

Portuguese - English
o homem - the man
o menino - the boy

If you go onto the Duolingo course you are given an introduction to the grammar at the start of the course.

The cards act as revision, or an easy start. You can hear the words being said.

If you are stuck in a car in snow briefly, you may want to pass your time listening to Portuguese on a disc such as the ones by Earworms. If you are in the car for a long time, you might prefer to conserve your battery, and play the disc on a music device.

You can save your disc onto a laptop such as the MacBook Pro. Other lighter laptops such as the MacBook Air require a disc player which plugs into your laptop. When you insert the disc, the itunes store is likely to ask if you want to save the disc.
