Spitting - disgusting or dangerous?

Problem
What can spitting spread?

Answers
the UK ads say:
Coughs and sneezes spread diseases - catch them in your handkerchief.

But which diseases? Here are the supects:
Firstly, newspapers and websites have reported you can catch
TB which has increased in the UK. But also
glandular fever and other diseases which come from the Epstein-Barr virus which is a herpes virus.
hepatitisAnd viral
meningitis.

You may have seen signs on buses worldwide saying that spitting is banned.
I looked al over the NHS and official websites and yet have no firm evidence. I don't think I need any. If you don't catch one thing, you can catch another.

If you can catch something by not washing your hands, how much more do you think you can catch from whole globules of body fluids?

Better safe than sorryl
