Portuguese words and how to remember them

New words - how do I remember them?

Answer
Make up a sentence using the visual sequence.


English - Portuguese
cake - bola (Cake made in a bowl makes a bowl shape cake)
onion - cebola (see an onion shaped like a ball or bowl or a ball which you bowl)
(an) orange - (uma) laranja
(a) plate - (um) prato
recipe - receita - (recipe - ta which is thanks in slang)
rice - arroz
salad - salada (salad - ah!)
sandwich - sanduiche (oo - you want a sandwich)
the snack - o lanche (the snack lunch)
woman - mulher (a woman might be a mother)

Portuguese - English
arroz - rice
cebola - onion
bola - cake
(o) lanche - the snack
(uma) laranja - (an) orange
mulher - woman
(um) prato - a plate
receita - recipe
salada - salad
sanduiche - sandwich
