Finding a bus route in Singapore

I used to marvel at the expertise of local people who could log into their phones, typing with two thumbs, and produce a bus number, tell me when it would arrive.

Now I realise it is very simple if you know your bus number or destination. Type in the bus number in google. Up pops the list of stops.

You can check the name of the stops. Count how many more before you arrive.

Get out your bus and train pass before your destination to tap in before you alight at the stop.

If you are taking a long journey, it's worthwhile sitting upstairs for a view over the scenery. Alternatively sit at the back where the last seat is raised and gives a better view.

You can see your surroundings during the daytime, before 7 pm all year. That makes daytime journeys more interesting, and it's easy to spot landmarks and read the stops. However, you can see the approaching stop in lights in the overhead screens inside the bus.

Any advantage to the train over the bus? The MRT runs every 3 minutes, instead of up to 15 minutes. You wait on the air conditioned platform for the train.
