Problem
How safe is it - in crowded places and out in the wild?

As American Benjamin Franklin said (and he travelled a lot, all the way to the UK before the days of  flight: Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

You can get information from the websites of Australia, Canada, the UK and the USA on laws and health, riots and civil unrest and war and what might get you thrown in jail.

Wikitravel, Wikivoyage and Lonely Planet have advice overlapping with the govenment, which includes more on public transport, bribes, buying a visa at the border, cons, thefts, and being polite so you don't start a fight.
