I am researching Bulgaria for a group of walkers. I need to find a hotel for the group. But in which area?
Answers
I chose Bulgaria for two good reasons. Firstly, Bulgaria is the most budget friendly area in Europe, according to a survey by the Post Office.
Secondly, I have never been there. But it has beautiful painted churches.
More Problems
I thoght it would be easy to find easy walks. I have looked at three walking holiday sites and can't see anything suitable. These so-called easy walks are 'wet and slippery'. The photo on one website shows a good bridge, but other photos show bridges which seem to be built of broken planks or broken twisted branches.
I am looking for an area of mixed walks, from a base with culture for anybody wanting a day off. I am researching for my group of about 30-35 walkers which includes a range of people from two or three daredevils who happily scale sheer walls with handholds to half a dozen frail, nervous seventy and eight-year-olds who like a nice walk for an hour or two on the flat through lovely scenery.
I would like some flat walks on proper paths in Bulgaria. Many older people, such as myself, have osteoporosis - bones like honeycombs. Apart from the short-term cost and agony of accidents, if you fall and break a hip at that age you don't heal well and can be crippled. Worst of all, after hip breaks you have a life expectancy reduced to only six months. Besides, I don't want to waste days of holiday turning back in the first five minutes. Does anybody know any level, safe walks?
In other areas, such as Romania and Madeira, paths are marked with colour classifications. Surely, the same must apply to Bulgaria. If all else fails, I shall write to the tourist board.
