The idea is that you hang it around your neck. You pull the pin by tugging on it - not a button so you can't push it accidentally.
If you see somebody coming towards you, immediately put your fingers on the pin. It emits a loud sound which attracts attention and hopefully frighten them off.
That's fine for a car park.
For Estate Agents and Home Owners Showing Prospective Tenants
What about when you are showing somebody around a house or flat? Somebody I know advertised a flat. The first time, she was showing a man around. She asked how many would be coming. She did not want to be alone and outnumbered.
It's a security risk to the property. You are showing a person around one room, and the other person goes back to look at another room. Where are they? What are they stealing or damaging?
The second arrangement I know of was this: A pleasant woman phoned and arranged to come over. 'Alone or with somebody else?'
'With my husband."
She arrived with her husband and her parents as well. Four six-footers!
She could scream for help. Neighbours might be out, not hear, or think it was the TV.
