The Rows Delightful decor in Hanoi behind a traditional dress shop selling Ao Dai

Lovely atmosphere. Great chairs and music. So restful.

Ordering Food and Drink
We had difficulty communicating. They had bottles of spirits and some wine but we could not make clear our requests for white wine sparkling wine and red wine.

We ordered chicken soup and chicken sticky rice. Both came with small pieces of chopped up chicken. Lovely smiley people.

See fantastic mural in an alley between the back of the dress shop and the front entrance of The Rows restaurant and bar.

We entered that way through a shop selling the Ao Dai, the traditional local long dresses like a tunic. the d in Dai is silent, pronounced like I, like the silent d in the English word Wednesday. The dresses come with underskirt in silk. Some with flower embroidery cost more, the cheaper design about UK 25 pounds sterling.

I saw other outfits with co-ordinating trousers, or sleeves. Earlier in the day at other shops I had seen the traditional tunics in rough cheesecloth which was cheaper.

We flew (at our own expense) on VietJetair, a budget airline, about which more later.
More details on the Sunline Paon, Japanese run hotel, later.
