If you hit the wrong key by mistake and everything vanishes, all is not lost. Immediately click on control and z to restore. If one click does not do the trick, try a second or third or fourth click. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Another solution, if you are in a public place and can't be sure of getting back to the screen and saving everything, is to take a photo of the screen. Even if you had to retype, at least you have saved the vital website information and your perfect prose.
