Practising Impromptu Speeches For Online Meetings

In Singapore first we had meetings reduced to no more than ten people. Now the Community Clubs are closed.

Everybody has to hold their meetings online.

Singapore Online toastmasters.

How to practise impromptu speeches. Some practical subjects.
If you are stuck, ask for a hint, or ask the audience. Or describe how you have a problem with answering the question.

For example, I once humorously expressed outrage: "Who set this question? It's a trap!"

Here are some of the questions I devised on practical subjects.

Quotations
1 Can you recommend three ways to help passengers keep healthy on trains or planes.

2 Have you any sewing tips for beginners; from threading a needle to sewing on a button, inserting a zip or making a DIY medical mask?

3 What edible plants would you like to grow on a balcony or windowsill and why?

4 I'm stuck at home and want to learn a language such as Chinese or Malay. What advice can you give?

5 What is your favouite quotation from a famous Chinese person such as Bruce Lee or Charlie Chan or Lee Kwan Yew?

6 What is your favouite proverb, in English or any other language?

7 A place for everything and everything in its place? What has been your greatest disaster or success?

8 What quick easy to cook food recipe do you recommend for an elderly person stuck at home?

9 The gym is shut. What exercise can we do at home, preferably sitting down?

10 What are the funniest videos you have seen?

11 Is it easier to give a serious or a humorous speech and why?

12 The children don't want to do their homework because it is self-marked and there are no exams. How do you presuade them to start working?

13 We are going to take a virtual holiday online. Which country should we look at?

14 The swimming pool is shut but your neighbour's daughter wants to know how to swim. Please stand up and deomonstrate arm movements and breathing for crawl, breaststroke.

15 Please tell somebody on Facebook why they should join Braddell Heights Advanced online

16 Is music a morale raiser when you are working at home or a distraction?

17 Which is better, food from the wild such as bats, or factory farmed food fish and chicken?

18 How do you cook an egg? Tell us your favourite recipe. If you are vegan, recommend a vegetable for our next meal.

19 You've been given a sack of rice. What three different dishes can you cook with rice?

20 Which 3 items have you recycled successfully?

21 Have you repainted, restored or re-purposed anything?

22 Let's all de-clutter. What old surplus items could you or I give away to another member? In return, is there something we need, which somebody might give us?

23 Singapore successfully shut the old hawker centre markets and created modern hygienic food courts. How do you stop sellers in the closed Wuhan markets simply setting up shop illegally elsewhere?
