Bristol's past, present and future; treasure Island, the statue and the slave trade memorials

Treasure Island, the book still selling well, was written in Bristol, based on sea-faring stories.

Bristol is a port city associated with ships and the author of Treasure Island. But now it is in the news for the slave trade and toppling of the statue of benefactor Edward Colston who built buildings in the city which stand today but made money in the slave trade.

I thought, how sad for the sculptor. But fortunately, the sculptor had died years ago.

The statue before it was toppled.

The slave trade feet memorial trail.

This is not a new controversy.
