Georgia, Georgia, and Georgia: Part 1 Georgia, the State in the USA

There are three Georgias. At least. First: Georgia, the original, in Russia, in Eastern Europe. Second: Georgia in the USA. Third: Georgia in the Antarctic, in the cold, down south.

Let's start with the USA. Why? Because I lived there and more of my readers, who are English speaking because I am writing in English, are in that region, the USA.

Georgia, USA

Georgia in the USA's South, is nicknamed The Peach State. We drove south from Maryland. Along the Blue Ridge mountains. As you drive south, you might play some suitable music.

As you drive south, the accents change. People start saying, Y'all, for you all.

You may recall a song about going down to Georgia. Sweet Georgia on my mind, a classic. Who played it or sang it? Almost everyone. Who did it first?

Music

Artist Ludacris sang "Welcome to Atlanta", Outkast's album "ATLiens", and B.o.B.'s multiple references to Decatur, Georgia, as in his hit song "Strange Clouds".

Film

Two movies, both set in Atlanta, won Oscars for Best PictureGone with the Wind (1939) and Driving Miss Daisy (1989). Other films set in Georgia include Deliverance (1972), Parental Guidance (2012), and Vacation.

Where to head first? The capital is Atlanta.

Major attractions.

Atlanta also has another big attraction, literally big.

The biggest Hindu temple in the USA.

What else? Maybe stop for tea or a cold drink. Coca-Cola was invented in Georgia, and as a result is very popular in the state. Sweet tea is a staple of the South and is served everywhere in Georgia, from fast food chains to Atlanta's high-end restaurants. Varieties of sweet tea include mint, raspberry and lemonade flavorings.

A popular alcoholic drink is the mint julep, a combination of mint, bourbon, sugar and water. There are also vineyards in the north Georgia mountains.

You can take vineyard tours.
