When you see pictures of Disraeli you always feel you have known him a long time. That is because he is caricatured in the early version of Alice in Wonderland.
If you get to London, England you can see Disraeli's statue in Parliament Square.
If you are keen, you can go to his home in Hughendon and look for his grave beside the chapel on his land.
I think of Disraeli all the time. My favourite saying of his is, when I want to read a book I write one. He also supposedly said, there are three kinds of lies, lies, damned lies and statistics.
Why is his statue in parliament Square? He was Prime Minister twice. That was the peak of his success. But life was not always so easy.
If you go from the West end of London to the East end you can see the outside of the Bevis Marks synaogue and time your visit right you might even see inside. I remember visitng it and being shocked to learn that Disraeli's father Isaac had a dispute about money with the synagogue and converted the whole family from Judaism to the Anglican church, having Disraeli baptised at the age of 12 before he reached his barmitzvah.
This did Disraeli a great lifelong favour because it enabled him to stand for Parliament and become England's only Jewish-born Prime Minister.
