Salt beef at B & K is still Britain's best but what about the chicken soup, cheesecake and decor?

B & K Decor

B and K interior has definitely got more glamorous. The transparent partitions probably installed because of Covid add a touch of sophistication as well as seclusion and cozy privacy. The black decor looks superior. I liked the little plant pots.

The salt beef is as good as ever. A huge amount. Enough to take some home. They will wrap it for you.

I thought my chicken soup with the dumpling was not very hot. I was a bit disappointed. I would not have it again. I would take it away if they would put it in a take away drinks container and heat it up at home. I'll go back to my original preference for their filling mixed hors douvre or  chopped (chicken) liver and egg and onion. What next?

Cheesecake

The cheesecake was nicely presented. The flavour was good. Bu I was also not taken with the cheesecake texture. They have three varieties. I don't see the point of drowning the taste of cheesecake in chocolate. If I want chocolate I will go for a chocolate cake. Although, I suppose a chocolate cheesecake is healthier and adds some calcium to my diet. I chose vanilla cheesecake. It was okay. Regarding taste, it did taste of cheese. Texture? Not a mousse. Not a blancmange. But not the crumbly cheesecake you can get in New York style cheesecakes in Starbucks.

The service with a smile was great from our server, a young lady from the Philippines who has worked here for two or three years. Everything is updated, up to the minute. You can pay with a credit card, sitting at your table. Just check the bill, add service if you like, tap, and you are ready to go.

Outside, cross the road and you are a few steps from Hatch End main line station which links south to Harrow, Wembley and Finshley Road and Euston going south, or going north to Watford where you can pick up a bus to outlying areas.
