When and where to buy cover up swimsuits

I live part of the year in the tropics, Singapore. So I need protection. Firstly, from the sun. I don't want to get sunburned.

Equally, perhaps more important, I want protection from the sun's rays which cause cancer of the skin. So I want covered arms, long sleeves in the swimsuit.

What about the legs? I had short boy leg swimsuits before.

My body silhouette is better now I am thinner. I no longer have large thighs.

However, I have various things to conceal. Slimming has left me with wrinkled skin.

I swim every day. I need a practical swimsuit.

I no longer want to attract attention. I am not like the singles, searching for a date or a mate.

The pink does not go with my Crocs. It will have to do. I chose a base colour of black because I thought it would be easier to match up with accessories. I already have an orange swimsuit and want to alternate them when one is wet. And it's more fun to have two than wear the same thing all the time.

Today I did another search and realised why I chose this design. I wanted the top and shorts or trousers separate. If the trousers were too tight, the top might still fit. It the top was long or short for my torso, never might, that would not affect the position of the crotch.

I was not thrilled with the fabric. It is that modern this stuff they cut with scissors instead of needing to hem. I looked at the fabric specifications. Elastane, basically elastic, okay.

I bought through ebay which is not as easy for me to use when checking reviews.

I went back to to reviews on Amazon, for other styles of swimsuit. I saw a one-piece I liked, and read the reviews. The item had several five star reviews.

Sizing - Small or Large?
What of the sizing? A few found the style too small, or too large.

Negative Reviews - No Lining
What about the negative reviews? Some said the fabric was thin and not doubled over vital parts. (My old Waveline brand swimsuit had inner fabric like a u shape under the crotch.)

Zips Liable to Break?

The one star reviews were complaining about the zip breaking. The item arrived with a broken zip. (Maybe a returned item sent out again?) Two more said the zip broke within the first wearing or second. Another said the zip broke soon after. The trouble with reviews which you cannot change, is that if the item arrives okay and breaks on second or third use, you cannot warn others.

That reminds me of why I was right to be cautious about a one piece costume. If it has a zip, the zip can break. You can replace zip pulls. You can replace an entire zip. A long zip is costly. Takes time to insert. For a swimsuit has to be waterproof. You can't have a metal zip which rusts. Nor one which is hard to operate. You don't want to be stuck inside a swimsuit.

After reading the reviews of one piece costumes, I looked at my new swimsuit again.

My Swimsuit
I did not return my swimsuit. I often find that something I hate and ignore on first sight, proves useful later. (I did not like my first pair of Crocs. Now I love them and have three pairs.)

Once you have removed the tags, and worn the swimsuit in the water, you cannot return it. I have worn it once, in water, okay so far.

Without Leggings
I wore it, as you see, without the ankle length leggings.
A complete wetsuit is heavy both in the water and afterwards when it is wet.

Instead, I wore it with self-made bikini bottoms, cut from a one piece costume. I could cut down the lower half to knee length, over the knee. But I shall try them on later.

Pink Colour
The lurid pink does not match, but it is very jolly. The pink offset the funeral black.

Horizontal Patterns Oblige You To Stand Straight
The horizontal pink draws attention to the fact that I am not standing straight. That's because I broke a collarbone in a car accident years ago.

Lots of people are lopsided. If you want to avoid having to concentrate on standing rigidly straight for photos and to look good in general, go for an asymmetric design such as a diagonal stripe.

Why Cover Up
You might not be swimming outdoors in the tropics. You might be swimming indoors, or in a cooler, cloudier clime.

If you live in a country where bikinis are banned, or men or women stare at you, you might like your main costume or your spare to be cover up. A wetsuit style is multi-purpose.

Of course, it is also popular with both orthodox Muslims and Orthodox Jews.

Advantages Of Attached Hoods
This swimsuit has an attached hood which is handy. You don't have to remember to pack it. It matches the costume. You can leave your fringe (gangs) and long hair out or tuck it away.

My next post will be about the two ribbon ties inside the swimsuit.
