My trip to Romania caused me to look for songs about Romania and I found this gem. Rumania, Rumania. That is the old spelling of the country.
The Songwriter Lebedeff
My favourite song and recording of it is the old one set in a tavern sung by the entertaining comic Yiddish singer and performer, Aaron Lebedeff, who wrote the song. He was from Belarus. He performed all over Europe and went to live in the USA where he was buried in Mount Hebron cemetery in New York state in the Yiddish Theatrical section.
But this girl singer in the video above is great.
