What goodies does January bring for the traveller - or stay at home traveller?

More Sunlight and Daylight In America and Europe

In The Northern Hemisphere

Every day is brighter and longer. Soon the little white crocuses will be peeping out.

Lovely Leftover Food

But supermarkets are still stocked with Christmas goodies.

Christmas Pudding

We still have English Christmas pudding.

German Stollen

Another recent favourite in the UK is German stollen with its sweet marzipan filling,

Italian Panetonne

Italian panettone - yummy. I love the high, domed bread. The classic panettone is plain, or with currants. Nowadays many more flavours are sold in caffes.

Leftover Drinks

Bubbles - Kings' Ginger. Champagne. Cava. Prosecco.

Spirits

Harveys Bristol Cream Sherry - at least it keeps. Let's take a closer look.

Nibbles

Scottish shortbread biscuits. Chocolates - Belgian chocolates. Chocolate from Hotel Chocolat.

Just around the calendar corner of the year, in Asia, China, Singapore and Chinese areas of big cities such as New York and London there will be Chinese New Year with orange lanterns and decorations on buildings, oranges, and boxes of biscuits for neighbours and friends and club members and colleagues.
