Vegans differ from vegetarians in that they don't merely avoid eating meat, and sometimes also fish, but might also exclude all animal products including, eggs, and/or cheese. However, we took cheese as a dinner gift and did not realise that one of the two vegetarians in the household normally avoids cheese made with animal rennet.
When buying for vegetarians, look for the large letter V on the packaging.
