Favourite Fun places in Frankfurt - and memories of Anne Frank

Frankfurt is famou for its book fair, so it must have a big conference centre.

Anne Frank

It was also the place where Anne Frank's family lived, before they went to Holland.

Also the Rothschild banking family started there. More about them in the Jewish museum. A room is devoted to them. The museum is in the former home of the German branch of the family, and has funding from them.

The grand old lady of the Rothschid family had several hard-working sons who made a difference. One son stayed at home in Germany. Another went to England. His family were involved in setting up the bank of England with its notes which promised to pay the bearer, on demand.

The Jewish museum is free to see. In addition to a room devoted to the Rothschilds, and their matriarch, lots of other interesting things.

Bread

For example, the way to plait a loaf of bread to make a traditional chollah, served at the Friday night family meal.

Art Museum

My husband also splashed out on the 16 dollars entry fee to see the art museum. No great famous paintings. WWhat he liked most was the view from the observation deck on the roof. A view over the modrn city.

When he felt in need of a break, his phone handily Google helpfully showed hin the nearest cafe, Picnick - was it run by somebody called Nick? Maybe not. Picnick, ending with k, is German for picnic.

If you (chosen by winner Iman of Pinner, Middx, NW London, for the Poetry By Heart contest.  are looking for something to read, local author Heinrich Hoffmann wrote The Story of Little Suck-a-Thumb.
