What to do on your own or with family and friends?
Answer
Plenty to do at the Horniman Museum. If you are on a budget, taken your own picnic. They have a picnic building. You can see a view over London.
The free animal area closes about 4 pm, just after the animals are fed. So if you want to see them, make sure you go early.
If it gets cloudy or rainy, or you want some shade, the main building has a free main collection. Enough stuffed animals to keep your fascinated for hours. The shop has lots to interest children and the creative types. Toys that make a noise, such as those based on musical isntruments from around the world.
If you are not paying, just walking around the park, it doesn't matter if you arrive late or leave early. Lots to be said for it.
The building itself is interesting, with a huge mural on the front (actually the side, as you get off the bus. The entrance is around the corner). Sundials are around the outside and you can follow the sundial trail.
Another feature is the outdoor musical instrument are, things you can bang on. Like a xylophone set upright against a fence. What's not to like!
