Malta offers a mixture of cultures. Two girls working in Malta, originally from Europe, said Malta reminded them of Britain: the red phone boxes, red letter boxes, driving on the same side of the road, the same sockets and three pin plugs. The statue of Queen Victoria. English is one of the two main languages.
The other language is Maltese.

The Republic Square (also known as Queen's Square or Piazza Regina) is a small square found in front of the National Library of Malta in Valletta. In the middle of the square is a statue of Queen Victoria, hence the name Queen's Square or Piazza Regina. The open space of the square is used by open air cafés, the most famous one being Café Cordina.
