Fear of Flying

Do you suffer from fear of flying? Did you ever? Wikiedia says fear of flying is known as flying phobiaflight phobiaaviophobia or aerophobia (although the last also means a fear of drafts or of fresh air).

Fear of Flying
One airline offered fearful passengers who had never flown a chance to buy a try boarding a plane experience. You get on the plane, sit in the seat, hear the announcements but don't fly anywhere. What a great idea.

You can also buy a game pretending to be a a pilot.

Or try analysing what you are afraid of. Is it the perceived danger? Do you actually get on a plane and then feel scared before take-off. Is it the take-off, the noise, the plane shaking, a feeling of panic looking out of the window at the ground disappearing, or at the height? Or is it being stuck at the end of the row in a confined space, trapped, unable to get out.

If you are afraid of any kind of flight, you might be reassured that your car, taxi or bus journey to the airport could be more dangerous than the flight.

If you think certain airlines are more dangerous, you choose an airline with a good safety record.

If you think certain airlines are more prone to attack, you could choose another airline.

If you think certain airports or country's major terminals are endangered, you could fly or take a train to a nearby country and then go by road through a less busy crossing point.
