How do you learn Portuguese?
Answer
In Portuguese speaking countries you see it everywhere and it's so easy to read and recognize.
Táxi is obviously taxi. The accent simply draws attention to the first syllable.
Many tourist magazines and leaflets are either in Portuguese and English or Portuguese and at least three other languages.
For example:
Free - gratuita
40 years - 40 anos
Festivities - festas
museu - museum
Jardim - Garden
moinho a água - watermill (adjective comes second, mill at / of water)
mar - sea
Azul - blue
restaurante - restaurant
tipico - typical
events - eventos
