I watched a video of a thief putting his foot through a bag handle on the floor, sliding the bag away a food. Then picking up the bag and sliping it into a large tote bag.
Several people say they always wind their bag strap around their arm or their ankle or the leg of the chair.
That doesn't stop determined thieves.
1 The thief can slice through the bag handle.
2 Thieves often act in pairs. Somebody pushes you from the left, if your bag is on the right. Whilst you are speaking to them, picking them up, or checking the bump on your left, the other thief has taken your bag from the right. The thief does not keep the bag, but throws it into the big bag of another person who runs up to him and collides with him.
Even if you were to spot thief two on your right, you would not know who had gone off with the bag.
And would you accuse and fight three strangers, who do not appear to be related to each other? The one with the bag is long gone.
You need further strategies.
Separate your goods so not everything is in one bag. For example, if you have two credit cards, keep the second one in an inside pocket.
A group of gangsters in a public place can surround you. One feels in your left pocket, another in your right pocket, whilst a third is pulling your camera and bag so you lift your arms in front away from your pockets.
Jacket and Pockets
If you have a card or valuable in your jacket, don't hang up your jacket or put it on the back of your chair. You might go to the buffet, the toilet, to pay the bill, to choose an item from a shelf, to talk to friends at the next table. Come back and your whole jacket has gone. Everything from ALL the pockets.
Take care!
