The first thing you must see in Mongolia is the horseback statue of Genghis Khan. Which the locals call chingis Khan, meaning king, the first name means universal ruler, while Khan means local ruler or tribal chief. This made sense to me when I thought of Queen Victoria first being called Queen of England, later Empress of India.
I spent a long time reading the history of Genghis Khan and his brothers and battles. The important thing is that he was the major ruler who united the Mongols and who is revered today as their founding father.
