Most schemes require an initial spend. You will have to pay a joining fee, which could be a thousand pounds (probably a year, not repeated all your life). But do the calculation of spending and saving. You would probably still end up better off. You may underestimate how much you spend in a year. You could be paying a lot on your family's spending.

I got a Taste card with Natwest. But that was only for restaurants.
Travel Insurance Coming With Credit Cards
At one time with a bank account and linked debit or credit card I got worldwide annual insurance free for those in a younger age group. Later I passed the age limit but my husband kept up the family's annual travel insurance by paying for it.
