More about Teta's Restaurant - the name

Teta is Lebanese (Arabic) for granny. The Teta's restaurant website says so. Google translate found us the Croatian for aunt, like tante in French. Teta is not the Arabic word grandmother, another word comes up, but a friendly, affectionate, short word, more like granny or nan.

We passed it again on a Monday, when it was open at lunch time when a nearby Indian restaurant was closed.

We took a Northern line train from Edgware station (which has a large car park charging six pounds) and walked down from Hampstead station towards Belsize Park. The restaurants we liked in Hampstead were closed on Monday. We spotted a taxi and hailed it and trundled off downhill towards Belsize Park where we got out. On the cinema side of the road is a turning leading to Belsize Village, a little triangular green surrounded by dinky shops and restaurants.

I would happily have eaten in Teta's again, this time trying the aubergine starter and the potato starter. However, my family wanted something different so we crossed the road to Roni's, which I describe in a later blog post.

As you see from the photos, they have indoor and outdoor seating.
