Free pizza, hot drinks and jelly babies Hatch End Thursday Dec 4 2014

Free pizza, hot drinks and jelly babies at Fellini Caffe in hatch End tomorrow afternoon, Thursday Dec 4 2014, after 4 pm when the Christmas Tree lighting takes place.

Here are the workers out in their lifting device to put the decorations on the tree and around the lamp posts. Bet you wondered how it was done, as I did.

That's how you get the fairy or angel or star on the top of the tree!
I saw a team of three vans out. You can just spot the orange lifter above the trees in the distance.

A brochure was delivered to nearby houses informing them of the tree lighting ceremony. Usually carol singers, a VIP, a collection for charity, free food given away by several shops. For example, mince pies at estate agents. In a previous year the tree lighting was done by Barry Cryer. This year it's a sporting hero.

See next post for pictures of Christmas cakes, Christmas trees and other shop window decorations and temptations.

Fellini restaurant fun - The Magic of Calabria - In Hatch End, North West London

Yesterday, November 10th 2014, Fellini was promoting an evening with Barry Cryer, the comedian who lives in Hatch End. Tonight, 'Fellini proudly presents The magic of Calabria'.

CALABRIA
The flyer says Calabria is Italy's sunshine region. Looking at the map, it's the toe of Italy.

Tickets cost £30 and for that you get 'a delicious four course meal with free glass of wine. Plus meet the wine maker and the pasta grain farmer'.

Book early to avoid disappointment they suggest. The event starts at 7 pm. So if you are interested, call now.

I did a Google search and discovered all the above. He has a Wikipedia entry. He is 77 years old. He doesn't just perform - he's both writer and performer. He has a stage show.

I often bump into him in the street or local restaurants or the pub. Last time I met him, he told me he was off to a comedy festival, driven by a member of his family, who are obviously a great support to his career. He was at the ceremony for the Xmas tree in Hatch End last year.
