Hotel Balcony Safety - and Keys - Locked out, climbed balcony, died - prevention?

This happens too often. What could be done? 

Design balconies so you cannot climb from one to another, except as a fire escape beding bars to protect you from falling. Singapore makes cat owners install glass and/or barriers to stop cats jumping and killing themselves or people underneath so it is both practical and affordable. 

Secondly, all residents sharing a room should be allowed a second key, or told they can call reception for an escort with a pass key or show iD or give their home address to get the room key.

If a key has a large heavy fb, you cannot lose the key,, and it is more likely to be left back at reception.

How To Avoid Airport Altercation - over an out of date passport

Good luck or bad luck? Sometimes we create our own bad luck. A woman created a fuss at an airport when she was denied boarding after she turned up late with an expired passport.

When does your passport or national identity card expire? How long does it take to get a new one? Do you have recent photos ready, for passports, or ski lift passes?

Could airlines ask for a copy of your passport when you book?

That would save you from a last minute hunt for your passport.

I can foresee objections. The risk is that the passport could be copied.

Instead, airlines could simply ask you the date of the expiration of your passport when you book the flight. The passenger would be alerted to check. 

If it is out of date they might have time to renew the passport. They might decide not to turn up and try to board with an out of date passport and stress themselves and check-in staff. 

Yes, the passenger in a hurry to book might make up a number, or lose the seat, or the airline might lose the booking. Eventually, customers would get used to providing passport expiry dates, and would keep the expiry date in their diary or phone with other vital numbers.

Horror And Humour - Naming Living And Dead Bodies In Texas, USA

Problem
How do you identify a dead body? What should you do to prepare for the worst?

Answers
1 Evacuate when told to do so.
2 If you prefer to stay to guard your property from looters, or are too frail to travel, the Mayor, Rios, of a town in Texas, tells people to write their name and National Insurance number on their arm.

Why the National Insurance number? I imagine it's the same as the National ID number (NRIC) in Singapore. It ensures that if you have more than one person of the same name you can be sure which is which. (For example, there are 13 people with my name, Angela Lansbury, on LinkedIn alone. It would take hours to try to identify a dead body from a name if they were not found in the house where they lived.

On a lighter note, somebody suggested that you should write your name on the torso instead, in case the body and arms were separated. Somebody else said you still need the name on the arm, in case somebody discovered an odd arm by itself.

Having the name on your arm might save a member of the family from the grim task of identifying the individual dead body, or looking at dozens. Or hundreds.

At least you could photograph the name and number before burial.

Light Note 2 - Identity change

A chance to go missing. Write your name on somebody else's dead body.

Hm. Why is the body of John Brown marked as Joan Brown?
