German words for to be eating

I am learning German and at first I would get confused between i s t and i s s t. They sound and look the same. But i s t means is. I s s t with the double s in the middle is eat as in essen and the adopted English word delicatessen. (Remember delicate eating! Or delicious food, if you prefer.)

Ist - is
isst - eat(s)
