The Reversing Falls in St Johns, Canada + Hula Mural - update from tourist board

Problem
Can you or can't you see the amazing Hula mural of the girls head and shoulders rising out of the water as the tide rises in 24 hours and falls four storeys! (Americans spell it stories, which to Brits means only levels on a skyscraper, history, plots or myths.) From which restaurants can you see the tide, high or low, or if you have time and money, sit and watch and drink and eat all day?

I wrote to the tourist board for the latest and this is what they replied.

(The people who brought HULA to town!  They worked alongside One Princess in this venture, who do carry unique items to Saint John under the Canada Strong and Free brand.  They are located on Water Street, directly across from where the mural was painted, and they also offer beautiful suites to rent short term.

The Reversing Falls Restaurant and Skywalk is located on West side of our City at 200 Bridge Road.  It is still currently under renovations but slated to hopefully open soon.  In the meantime, we have 5 great restaurants on our Boardwalk, with view of the Harbour as well as over 70 different restaurants and pubs alone in our Uptown core.  All are local establishments. 

There are many options for fun and unique souvenir types items for Saint John sold in a variety of places.  Barbour’s General Store, which houses a Visitor Centre, the Saint John Tour Desk and a retail area, carries locally printed t-shirts, and a variety of products from Saint John and NB.  Our Saint John City Market is the one of the oldest running indoor markets, established in the late 1870’s. It carries everything local and has many great gift ideas.  As well as a number of our galleries. The Reversing Falls Restaurant will have a gift shop as well.

Pick Pocket Proof Clothing You Could Or Should Buy

Problem
How do you stop items getting stolen when travelling? How do you avoid losing things which fall out of pockets?

Answers
Buy Pick Pocket Proof clothing. (That's a brand.) They are most secure having two sorts of closure, for example, a velcro or zip pocket and then another pocket with a zip underneath in the back of the inside of the pocket. Their website includes stories of how customers were saved from attempted pickpocketing attempts.

Look for
'cargo pants'.

You can also buy t-shirts with hidden pockets. Brands uncle Bastiat. You will find them on ebay and Amazon.
Underwear for men has concealed pockets.

You can buy multi-pocket jackets.
You can find other clothing and accessories by searching for
'hidden pocket'
'zip pocket' or
'secret pocket' or
'inside pocket' include belts.

Another phrase to search for is:
'stealth pants'.

Bags can have secret pockets underneath (designed for umbrellas - may be open at one end in which case sew on an extra zip or flap.

Before you throw away old shirts with fraying collars or cuffs, save the pockets to sew inside jacket or inside the outside pockets.

Wine Ice Cream from mercers dairy.com, including mulled wine

Here's something to take to a Xmas party. Wine ice cream. All over the USA. You can order online.

When will it come to Europe? I'll look for a recipe to make your own.A good way to use up leftover wine. Tip it over dry cake or ice cream.

Ice Cream T-Shirts
I also like the t-shirts. But you have to order ice cream to qualify for being able to buy a t-shirt. I can't order because I am not in the USA. Does anybody want to send me a tee-shirt!

Wishlists
Maybe they should start a wishlist for tee-shirts.  Every company which sells retail or through websites should have wish lists as well as wedding lists. That would help enormously when buying Xmas and birthday gifts. Have a monthly or annual giveaway to keep people coming back.

I watched an amusing video of people trying out various flavours. Chocolate. Merlot. Strawberry sparkle.

I wonder how wine ice cream would suit hot Singapore. In England in November it's so chilly that our thoughts are on mulled wine more than wine ice cream. Hot toddy and mulled wine.


If you are driving or working and don't want to go anywhere near alcohol or caffeine (my doctor told me not to drink coffee after lunch time, you can make a punch bowl with a non-alcoholic punch or one which looks like red sangria and keep diluting it.

I checked Wikipedia and was amazed to discover several entries on wine ice cream.
