The Hayes Conference Centre at Swanwick, Derbyshire, is the setting for the annual Writers Summer School. The venue and food improve every year.

My main course was chicken with plentiful small roast potatoes, parsnips and other vegetables.
The desserts are plentiful, with choice. We had two sorts of cheesecake, all chocolate and a kind of black forest cheesecake with raspberries int the middle and solid clotted cream on top. Other tables had apple pie and a cheesecake with what looked like fresh strawberries on top. I'm sure if I'd wanted more or different I could have wandered along and found a table with some to spare.
