ne Fair trade show I learned the insiders' secrets, challenges, solutions and plans for all of us consumers. At London Wine Fair, a Master of Wine, Sarah Abbott, explained the advantages of old vines. In short, they give extra flavour.

The Prosecco we tried cost recommended retail price R.R.P. of 33 pounds sterling a lot more than the cheapest in my Tesco supermarkets. So what are you getting for your family to enjoy or for a gift at a dinner party or special occasion?

So, what are you getting from old vines?

How old is an old vine? A minimum of 35 years. In Chile only 30. In Spain's Rioja region, 35, 50 in the USA.

Prosecco is from the VENETO REGIONaround Venice in the North of Italy.

Sherry from Jerez

sherry derives its name from the Arabic prunciaion of Jerez, a town and area. We learned about the solera system. Based on the word for ground.

Sherry is aged white wine which ranges in colour from pale to dark and stronger sweeter flavours.

The name Sherry is protected and was originally a triangle of towns including Jerez. But has been expanded to add in approved wineries across the Jerez region offering the consumer more choice of wines having the same region and method and supervision of quality.
We learned about this at a tasting presented to the trade, restaurant, bar and hotel owners, sommeliers, importers, distributors.
At the London Wine Fair at Olympia.

Other major events included one in Paris in January. Others in Singapore and elsewhere. And of course a London Wine Fair in London.one more day, then back again next year.

Sake for spicy food

Hot sake is drunk in cold weather. Cold sake in hot weather.

For a dinner party for those who don't drink much, instead of a white appetizer, red wit meat main course, instead take one bottle of
Sake cool for the first course and warm it for the main course and no hangover, said Mr Ryosuke Mashio.

Whie wines from France

Wearing a white French beret, and bold snakeskin boots, smiling presenter Anne McHale.

The first of the six wines was my favourite, the most aromatic. A clear winner for me.

Wine 2 has a pretty pink label to make your customer's or guests' eyes light up.

For the novice, as for colour  wine number 5 is the brightest yellow in both bottle and glass. Less aroma and flavour, oes with any food, can't offend or overwhelm. Very drinkable.

Competitive pricing, retail about up to fifteen pounds.
