They say it's the easiest of the Slavic languages and will help you to learn the others. I found it so when I visited Bulgaria.
Duolingo does not have Bulgarian. However, there is a handy Bulgarian phrase book in Wikivoyage.
You can learn Bulgarian from Bulgaro which has flashcards and native speakers.
Duolingo has no Bulgarian in 2023.
