How to hang up a handbag when you are seated on a bar stool, in a restaurant, home or even a public toilet

How to hang up a handbag. I recalled that in London at a restaurant with high bar stools, I could not reach my handbag which was far below - also on the fity floor, and vulnerable to being trodden on, or stolen. The staff showed me that they had installed hooks for handbags.

I was sitting in Wine Connection in Telok Ayer, and thinking, what a pity they don't have hooks for handbags. They could attach them. Is there a suitable spot on the wooden cross board or legs. I looked under the table top and do my surprise and delight, there was a hook!

I had not thought to ask. The staff had not thought to tell me.

Now I am wondering whether this is a common feature of tables where diners have high bar stools. In future I shall look.

If there is none, I shall suggest to the staff that such hooks should be installed, and promoted as a service by the thoughtful staff and management.

The alternative is to carry a folding handbag hook in your handbag. They are not expensive. They make an amusing novelty gift.

You can buy a set of four different ones for under ten dollars, to keep one for yourself and give others to family or friends or as gifts and giveaways at conferences and contests.

There are loads of amusing, pretty, or elegant designs.

The dearest I saw was about twenty dollars from Clips which ran a video showing their device attached to the handbag strap and un folded to fasten the bag onto a table, armchair and public toilet washbasin.

Americans call them purse caddy.

Americans use the word purse where the British would say handbag. In British English, a purse is what other versions of English would call a coin purse, or clutch bag.

Create funny mock-plane seats at home and watch your/others' videos for Armchair Travel

The idea of pretending your washing machine is a cruise ship window is so ridiculous it is funny. An inflatable pool with bar stool in your back garden (or back yard as the Americans say) is better than nothing. I shall start with serious guides, then end with the amusing mock destinations.

I am very content travelling the internet. I could spend months searching through information and enjoying discoveries, planning trips which might take place later this year, next year or never.

What can you do to recreate the pleasures of travel:
Practical Pictures
1 Watch videos (made by drones)
2 Project seasides or forests onto your living room or bedroom or kitchen or bathroom or outdoor walls
3 Print your favourite photo large and frame it
4 Use your favourite holiday or business trip picture as your laptop's welcome screen
5 Use your favourite holiday or business trip picture prjected behind you as your backdrop
 when videoconferencing using Manycam
6 Compile a serious guide to your city or your dream destination using route planning guides and photos from wiki. Start with your heroes and heroines such as Anne Frank, Helen Keller, Jesus, American Presidents, Elvis, Freddie Mercury and city destinations, mountains, beaches or treks.

Amusements
Create a jokey mock up of plane or cruise travel to amuse your friends, using
1 Hotel pool
Deckchairs in the garden by an inflatable pool.

2 Hotel Pool bar
Bar stools and cocktails by kitchen work surface. Stick poster of distant hotel on wall.

3 To recreate a cruise ship window or airplane window.
Washing machine circular front windows. Stick picture of outside scene on outside of window or inside.

4 To create a plane interior:
A bank of chairs alongside or behind each other with masks or saved airline socks or paper sick back and airline magazines. Wife (male or female) wearing tight skirt with small hat and scarf or baseball hat from tour company carries meal on a tray.

5 To create airport lounge
Airlne magazine covers stuck on magazines to recreate an airport lounge. Add wheeled bags and briefcases. For seatbelts, and remove clip straps from shoulder bags.

5 A mock plane toilet
Remove all your other clutter leaving only your saved free zip up flight bags and disposable toothrushes.
Printed signs above your batrhoom (rest room) or toilet door.
Signs can say;
Occupied.  .
Return to seat.
Stand outside looking glum holidng a magazine and looking at your watch.

6 Mock Destination Video
Take your favourite clips and create a guide to your home city.
If all else fails, just photograph your garden or the view from your window and do a mock travel guide to nature of city life.

7 Holograms
Hologram of yourself or wildlife.

A rant against bar stools

What have a got agains bar stools? I'll tell you.

I recently had bar stools at Dehesa. I hate bar stools.

I hate heights. I hate climbing. It's as much of a challenge as limbing Mount Everest.

I'm joking. No. For me getting on a bar stool is like getting on a horse. I try to hang on. It tries to bolt.

Or climbing on a Harley Davison motorbike. I straddle it and fall off the other side.

Ranting Against Bar Stools
I did my pole-vaulting impression, perched with the uncertain air of a parrot shifting about on bar, about to speak words everybody waited for. I tried to look agile and nonchalant.

Being on a bar stool put me in a bad mood for the whole meal. Are you sitting comfortably? No. I feel like I am in an airport lounge, exposed to people pushing past. if somebody runs off with my bag or the phone on the table I cannot race after them without doing an impression of an Olympic diver.

I want to cling onto the table with one hand, whilst holding onto my tote bag with the other hand. I am unbalanced, precarious.

I am tense. I fear I might fall. It's like eating a snack of pot noodles on a trapeze.

Bar stools must be designed for drinkers at bars, so they move on quickly to make way for others, and fall off as soon as they have had the second drink; approved by people who want the most uncomfortable chairs in order to get a quick turnover of diners who don't linger.

Did I say any of this? No. My fellow diners were not aware of any problem. (It's our secret!)

Bar stools have only one use. Sitting up high to play electric organs on x shape supports.

Yes, you can sit at Yog

Yes, you can sit by the Yog yogurt counter, at Intu shopping mall in Watford. Three stools are on the right.
