It is widely song at birthday parties in restaurants. The best restaurants, in my opinion, dim the lights so that others look towards the birthday table and the family have time from the advance warning to get their cameras ready and photograph the candles. know a good singer, get them to lead the singing. Give them the microphone.
Playing the tune is good because it helps everyone sing in tune, or masks their sharp singing if they don't.
