Knife arches have been installed in h\Harrow Town Centre - at what cost

I looked online for the cost of knife arches. cost 1,200 pounds upwards. Plus the cost of somebody manning the arches. Or a video link.

You can by portable arches to move them around, or take to event.

After shootings in schools, instead of sending prayers, send money to a fund for knife arches, set up a go fund me.

The FAQ on sites selling knife arches say that the arches can detect guns and metal objects as well as knives.

Where You Can Eat,Drink, Shop and Park Free In Harrow

At the top of the hill are some fine restaurants, a pub, but narrow and steep streets, and competition for parking places. Down in the town you have the multi-storey St George's car park.

In Harrow on the Hill town centre you have a big choice of places to grab a quick bit or have a quick chat before or after a meeting. We were looking for somewhere to go after a Toastmasters meeting at the Baptist Church in College Road.

Food
Costa - at the base of the steps up to Harrow on the hill station by the bus garage.
Greggs
McDonalds
Nandos
Wenzels Bakery.

Shops
Argos
Debenhams
Dyson
Poundland
Primark

Cheap Shops
Poundland - two branches, one in Station Road near Debenhams, on the opposite side of the road, racing the statue.
Primark

Ethnic

Vegetarian restaurant next to McDonalds. Small ground floor seating area.

McDonalds is bigger than it looks. There's an upstairs.

DRINK & EAT
Pubs
At least three, the one by St George's car park, the Irish pub, a Wetherspoons.

Gyms and Sports
Fitz
Harrow Baptist Church has a sports hall beside the kitchen at the back.
Another gym in the shopping centre.

Debenhams
I have not been there recently but last night somebody told me the Debenhams car park is open plan and open all night.

St George's
Updated car park, now reduces the paper. Instead of a ticket as you enter and another as you leave, the one you receive on entering is scanned when you pay.

But when issued, how does it act as a receipt?

If you are on business and claiming expenses or tax, you might want to photograph the ticket and the charges for your own records.

On the current UK tax system, I believe you cannot claim your journey to and from work but you can claim expenses for trips made for work whilst at work.

Free Parking
In St George's after 6 pm parking is free.

How Late?
The St George's car park is open until 3 pm.
I was told that Debenhams is open all the time.

Why would you need overnight? Lost car keys. Too drunk to drive. Stayed overnight at your friend's because it was too late and dark to travel.

On shift work.

Nearby
Harrow and Wealdstone

Free Parking
late night in some places. Check for updates.

Christmas Light All Around: Breakfast with Santa in happy Harrow, plus Intu nationwide and London's Oxford Street

Problem
What's new? What am I missing?

Answers
All over England, and indeed the world, log into your nearby Shopping Centres to find out about the lights, activities and novelties and offers.

Dickens talked about the spirit of Christmas past. Here's my glimpse of the past lights.

Intu and Watford and More
Intu at Watford is a centre I know, which has lovely white lights, but the good news is Intu also has malls all over the UK.

Harrow
Harrow Harrow sent me an email and I discovered I can log into the St George's Centre which has its own website.

St George's has the handsome apprentice star turning on the lights. New this year (new for me) is breakfast with Santa. Another Santa opportunity elsewhere in a Santa bubble is an opportunity for a selfie with Santa and a competition.

If you don't want to spend any money, at least enjoy the new loos which are prettily painted with clouds and balloons.

In Harrow, which part is St George's and which is St Anne's? That always used to puzzle me. Then one day I looked up inside St George's and realised they had pictures of St George around the top.

From Harrow, it's quick and easy to get the train into London and see the London lights.

London's Weekend Travel: St George's Day and The Marathon

Saturday 25th April 2015 is The Feast of St George. From noon until 6 pm you can enjoy events at Trafalgar Square.
London.gov.uk/stgeorges

I picked up a red and white flyer at a London station. The cross of St George is red on white. I know. I have the colours and design on a pair of Wellington boots.

The flyer temptingly talks of free fun for everyone, a feast of English food, stalls selling treats, live cookery demos, live music from brass bands, a singalong and knees up, plus a medieval jousting tiltyard to entertain children.

They say, come dressed in red and white to celebrate this national day.

What's more, they invite you to share you event photos.

See next post for Sunday's Marathon.

I looked up St George's Day and was horrified to find that the wikipedia entry stating that the date was April 23rd was followed by my post listing the celebrations in London being on the 25th. Then I realised that the festivities were being celebrated on the nearest Saturday, and I had not made an error. To prove it to myself and you I show the leaflet which gave me the information.
