The Scrubba washrag popped up on my Facebook page. What is it and how do you use it? It's basically a big tough green colour waterproof bag with an internal and I hope lightweight washboard. You put in the clothes and clean water and soap, bang it about a few minutes according to how clean you want the wash, tip out the dirty water and clothes are rinsed and fresh smelling or completely clean.
I looked at their website and read about the origins. A chap who worked in a patent office went on a trek up a mountain and wondered how many clothes to take and how to wash them en route.
It sounds like a good idea. They say it has uses for many types of travel and person travelling. You might be on a trek, in a hotel, on a cruise, in a hostel or remote place where you don't like the cleanliness of the basin. Even checking out of a hotel in a hurry, stopping at a garage (petrol station, gas station in the USA) and want to put on clean clothes and clean the old ones.
Even overnight on a plane, if you've had wine or coffee or food spilled on clothes. You are in a teeny cubicle, or arriving at the public restroom/toilets in the airport, or the smart airlines lounge where you don't want to be washing your clothes in public. Or in a restaurant when you've been sick or had an accident - wash out your clothes.
Yes, great idea, if it's small and light to carry. And cheap. At £38 it might be an investment for a trek or for life. As an impulse purchase, not sure. Half or a quarter of the price would be good. I went to their site and for signing up I was offered a ten percent discount - but only if I order today. It would be an interesting birthday present for a friend. A bit expensive if they never use it. But take a look.
