But here's a novel idea, a restaurant run by people who are still in prison. I'm all for the idea of giving prisoners something to do and a means of earning a living.
I first saw it in a whole page article in The Straits Times which a relative found at Heathrow in the Singapore Airlines lounge.
When I hunted around the internet for the website I found a page in Italian and the Italian branch of TripAdvisor also in Italian. You can run any section which interests you through Google translate, but Italian is so similar to English and Spanish and French and Latin that you will be able to get the gist of a lot of it.
The name InGalera means in prison in Italian slang. It seems to be a great success despite or because of the novelty. Some of the 1,100 inmates are in for homicide - if you are of nervous disposition take someone else to taste the food first. If you are nervous about violence make sure you know whether you are supposed to tip and how much. Seriously, it sounds a great idea.

I then went on line to look for the place I had visited in Australia and up pops a Weikipedida article on two similar places in England.
The Clink is a fine dining restaurant located inside HM Prison High Down, in Banstead, Surrey. It is the first of a series of planned restaurants to be set up in conjunction by The Clink Charity and HM Prison Service, with the second restaurant located near HM Prison Cardiff.
