Most stains and simple repairs can be seen on You Tube, or wikihow, or the guides from DIY stores such as Wickes and B & Q and Homebase.

How To Clean Wine Stains off furniture. 

The same as for carpets, but check an inconspcous area first to be sure you are not removing the dye from the fabric. 

Report Leaking Taps Quickly 

Why?

Leaking taps are creating moisture, leading to mould. Breeding flies, mosquitos, fleas, silverfish. All these can spread illness and/or eat the fabric of your clothes, or infect your food. Insects attract things which eat insects. 

Fleas attack pets. Repel your visitors. Flies attract spiders. Repel your visitors. Excrete on your food. 

Insects breed in flour.

Mould makes life harder for those suffering from allergies and asthma.

Central Heating

Before calling in an expensive electirican or plumber because the heating doesn't work, try this:

Check the thermostat controls in the living room, hall and bedrooms. Does the controller have a battery. Install a new battery. Maybe the power was low because the battery was low. Or the contacts were dirty. 

Maybe re-setting will fix the system.

My son just fixed his home central heating this way.
