I had the aisle seat but I knew what to do. Ask the person in the window seat to take a photo. You have to hope that they will not fall asleep. 

You see wind turbines on a  wind farm on the drive from London, England, up to Derbyshire on the M1.

Wind farms around the world are listed in Wikipedia, in the UK (England, Scotland and Wales), the USA, China, Japan, Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands. They are also listed by sea location, in the Baltic Sea, Irish Sea, and North Sea.

Words Which You Know In Spanish, Thai, Urdu and Persian from Country Names and Place Names

Problem
I'm sure you and I know a lot of words in foreign languages, if only we could get the translations.

Answer
It is easier to remember the name of a country or area if you know the words' meanings. Here are a few words you know with their translations:

LANGUAGE or COUNTRY Foreign word - English
German Oktober (as in Oktoberfest) - October

Spanish Puerta del sol - gate of the sun (Central point of Spain, in the capital, Madrid)
Honduras (the country name) means great depths
Kazakhstan - land of the wanderers
Persian - Pakistan means land of the pure; paki-pure; stan- land or place of (Persian language of Iran)

Flag of Thailand

Thai - Prathet Thai which translates into Thailand, means land of the free; Thai is free
Urdu - Pakistan means land of the pure (same as  in Persian); Paki pure, stan land

costa - coast (Spanish)
of the - del - of the (Spanish)
gate - puerta (Spanish)

Problem
You buy a home or business in Asia. What could go wrong?

Answers
A Brit claims he bought a part share in a business from an old man. At first all went well. He gradually built up the business until it was making a profit.

However, ten years on, the old man died. The old man's descendants came back and said, 'This land has been ours for generations. Get off our land.'

The Brit claims: 'I went to court. However, the police and solicitors were the brothers of my adversaries.'

I later questioned him again for an update. He replied:
'I got my money back.  But others lost everything.'

What does this Chinese symbol mean? Red packet - prosperity? When can you use it?

Problem
I had a red packet and wanted to know the meaning. My first thought was to take it to an event attended by some speakers of Chinese (nowadays meaning Mandarin) but the symbols are common to speakers of Chinese dialects as well as Japanese speakers.

I realised it was not necessary to carry the packet and risking damaging it or losing it. I could take a photo.

The packet is red. The Chinese like red, especially for red packets containing money.

My friend told me the first symbol on the left showed clothes. The second symbol on the right has a square divided into four which means field or land and property.  The two together indicate prosperity. 

This symbol is a common wish for new year, Chinese New Year. However, it will also be suitable for other occasions, such as a wedding.

The same sign is hung upside down in houses as a goodwill message meaning prosperity is on its way!
