Just driving through St Albans is a delight, especially at night. I love the uphill street with the ancient buildings. The black and white style of medieval buildings o Shakespeare's time were copied by the Victorians.
Now the big chains have added the familiar menus of modern times.
Britain at its best, from all eras. Further on, other shops are on level ground.
By day I have visited the cathedral and the Roman remains.
